MD5 files are files that contain a "fingerprint" for files you can download. These fingerprints allow users to ensure that they downloaded the file correctly. Let's say that you downloaded the video, but it looks really strange to you - you can be sure that you got the right file if the fingerprint on your end matches the one in the MD5 file.
